Audio recording and storage system

Purpose of the system 

Hardware-software system for recording and storage of audio data (hereinafter recording and storage system) is intended for automatic high-quality recording, storage and playback of audio data incoming to the system from various sources of low-frequency signals. 

In respect to its purpose Audio recording and storage system may be used as an autonomous device for recording and playback of audio data and can also be integrated into objective control subsystems within automated systems of various levels. 



All of the Audio recording and storage system main equipment is mounted in the industrial chassis of Advantech type industrial computer of 4U size. This design allows to arrange PAK RZA in industrial rack and includes:

  • Single board industrial computer of Advantech type with processing unit, SVGA, LAN and RAM adapters;
  • 16-channel analogue encoding module board (number of boards is decided by number of channels, which are recorded);
  • 16-channel digital ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) encoding module board;
  • 4-channel E1 stream encoding module board;
  • Solid-state SSD storage;

Specialised software for separate boards of Audio recording and storage system and for the system in general. 

For displaying of the system’s graphical user interface, one of the displays of the Automated system is used, connection to which is performed through the KVM switch.

Functional capabilities

Audio recording and storage system is providing:

  • Conjunction and automatic receiving of analogue signals, analogue to digital conversion;
  • Conjunction and automatic input of digital signals with support of ISDN BRI, ISDN PRI interfaces and VoIP-channels of voice communication through Ethernet network;
  • 24/7 recoding of voice data in real time from all connected channels;
  • Recording mode for each channel – continuous or by exceeding of threshold level;
  • Recording mode for each channel without compression (64 Kbit/s – A-Law) or with compression ratio of 2 (ADPCM – 32 Kbit/s);
  • Audio data recording format with the following fields: number of channel, name of channel, beginning of recording (data/time), length of recording;
  • Recording of information, which is transferred into internal archive (SSD storage) with capability of coping to an external storage;
  • Automatic deletion of old recordings from internal storage;
  • Search and playback of recorded data without deterioration of parameters of current voice data recording;
  • Playback of any channel during recording;
  • Discrete frequency of input data – 8 kHz;
  • Setting of channels’ operating parameters without stopping of recoding process;
  • Voice compression algorithm is chosen by software;
  • Compression deactivation capability (maximum quality of recording);
  • Authorized access to the control commands over equipment’s operating modes and recorded data;
  • Recording of operating personnel actions, status and parameters of the equipment, including status of UPS;
  • Automatic synchronisation of system settings, access rights and registration of users at all sets of the system;
  • Protection of software from accidental destroying be operating personnel.

Readiness time of Audio recording and storage system (time of initial software loading) is less than 120 s (including self-testing);

Continuous operation time – 24/7.
